Are Twin Flames Real? My Journey to Discovering the Truth

Have you ever felt a connection with someone that you couldn't quite explain? In this first episode of Soul Chat, I'm sharing how I discovered the concept of Twin Flames, what it helped me understand about love, and why I believe the question itself can become a doorway to deeper self-discovery.

What Are Twin Flames?

Twin Flames are understood, within the Teachings of Union, as two expressions of the same one consciousness, created together by God. Although each person is whole in themselves, the connection reflects a deep spiritual bond that leads both people toward greater love, truth, and union with God.

For some, the concept of Twin Flames resonates deeply. For others, it may sound like a fantasy, an obsession, or simply another name for soulmates.

I understand why people have questions. I've asked them myself.

For me, discovering the Twin Flame journey wasn't simply about finding a label for a relationship. It was about finally understanding a desire for true love that had been with me for as long as I could remember.

A Lifelong Desire for True Love

Even as a child, I remember wanting to experience true love. I believed there was someone God had specifically created for me, someone with whom I could share a deeper connection than simply being compatible or deciding to build a life together.

At the time, I didn't know there was a name for what I was looking for. I sometimes felt misunderstood, and I didn't really understand why my desire for love felt so different from the way other people approached dating and relationships.

What I didn't realize was that the person I felt drawn to was someone I'd known since childhood.

My Twin Flame and I grew up together, were close when we were young, and eventually began dating after high school. When we entered a relationship, there was a natural sense of familiarity. I felt comfortable opening up to him in ways I hadn't experienced before, and our connection felt different from anything I'd known.

For the first few months, the relationship was wonderful. It felt like the kind of love I'd always wanted.

But as our relationship deepened, so did the triggers.

When Love Brings Your Feelings to the Surface

Before this relationship, I hadn't learned how to navigate my emotions in a healthy way. I didn't fully understand relationships, and I certainly didn't know what to do when difficult feelings came up.

I was still learning that I was allowed to have my own feelings in the first place, let alone how to process them.

As my Twin Flame and I began triggering each other, we didn't know how to work through our upsets individually or together. Instead, things got pushed aside, and the unresolved feelings gradually accumulated.

After about two and a half years together, we broke up.

Although our breakup was peaceful and respectful, it brought a tremendous amount of pain to the surface. I had assumed that ending the relationship would make the uncomfortable feelings disappear. Instead, many of those feelings remained, along with my desire to be with him.

This was different from what I'd experienced in my previous relationship. I couldn't simply move forward and leave the connection behind.

I didn't understand why, and I didn't know what to do with everything I was feeling.

That experience became the beginning of a much deeper search for answers.

Finding the Answers I Had Been Searching For

After the breakup, I turned to self-help books, therapy, and spirituality. I was trying to understand myself, make sense of my feelings, and find an answer to a question I couldn't quite articulate.

Then, in late 2020, I had a powerful experience during a meditation. I felt reconnected with a part of myself that I hadn't felt in a long time, and something about the experience stayed with me.

Afterward, I noticed that the meditation had been labeled as a Twin Flame meditation.

I didn't know anything about Twin Flames at the time, but the term caught my attention. Something in me wanted to explore it further.

As I began researching the concept, I eventually discovered the work of Jeff and Shaleia and their book, Twin Flames: Finding Your Ultimate Lover.

When I started reading about the Twin Flame journey and the Mirror Exercise, something clicked for me.

For the first time, I was exploring a framework that helped me understand both the connection I felt and the emotions I had struggled to process. I began learning how to work with my feelings rather than simply pushing them away or wondering why they were there.

I also felt less alone in my experience. The things I'd been struggling to understand suddenly had a context in which I could explore them.

Discovering the Teachings of Union gave me a new direction for my personal growth and helped me become clearer about what I truly wanted in love.

It wasn't just about finding someone to share a life with. I wanted a deep, lasting connection rooted in love, authenticity, and spiritual alignment.

I wanted to understand how to love myself, navigate my emotions, and create a healthier relationship with the person I loved.

And that was only the beginning of my journey.

So, Are Twin Flames Real?

For me, the answer is yes.

My experience of recognition, mirroring, and a deep love that continued even when the relationship changed led me to explore the Twin Flame connection more seriously. The teachings gave me a way to understand what I'd experienced and a path for continuing to grow.

But I also believe it's important to acknowledge that doubt is a normal part of the Twin Flame journey.

Questions may come up when you're hurting, when the relationship isn't unfolding the way you hoped, or when you're trying to make sense of an experience that feels difficult to explain.

You don't have to be afraid of those questions.

You don't have to ignore your doubts or force yourself to believe something simply because someone else believes it. Instead, you can let your questions become an invitation to explore, reflect, and discover what feels true for you.

For me, asking whether Twin Flames were real opened the door to a much deeper journey of self-discovery. It led me to explore my relationship with love, my emotions, my beliefs, and myself.

And I'm still learning.

My hope is that, as we explore these questions together, you'll feel encouraged to approach your own journey with curiosity, honesty, and compassion for yourself.

You don't have to have all the answers right now. Sometimes, the willingness to ask the question is where the journey begins.
